Comparison of Tartrazine, Allura Red, BSF and Pyranin120%as Tracers for Pesticide Deposition Measurement

Spraying deposition test was widely used in plant protection technology and application techniques as a characteristic physical parameter. For assessments of the deposition, tracers were normally used to replace pesticide analysis, since tracers are easier and safer to handle. In this study, four commonly used tracers: Brilliant Sulpho Flavine(BSF),Pyranin120%,Allura-Red and Tartrazine were analyzed qualitatively with colorimetric analysis and fluorescence analysis respectively.Application conditions, stability and applicability of the targets were also tested in the experiment. Results showed that: 1)BSF and Pyranin120%had good linear relation of fluorescent value to concentration of 0.05-0.8mg/L and 0.001-0.01mg/L respectively.Tartrazine and Allura-Red had a linear relation to 2-20mg/L.2)Allura-Red and Tartrazine had the best storage stability with a lower than 5%degradation rate after 192 hours.3)Six kinds of collectors(Petri dish, glass slide,Mylar film, filter paper, hydrophilic leaves and hydrophobic leaves)were selected as collectors in the study. All the dyes analyzed could be well extracted from the surface of Petri dishes.Fluorescent tracers were advised to keep the exposure of samples to solar radiation as low as possible when accurate measurements are needed.
