Phase-Field simulation of magnetic induced phase separation in Co-based ahoy films
Drastically different microstructures with modulated ferromagnetic and paramagnetic phases have been reported in the Co-based alloy films due to the grain boundary segregation or migration. To improve the magnetic properties of the Co-based film devices, the spatial arrangement of these magnetic induced phase separation should be controlled precisely. In order to investigate the formation mechanisms of the reported film morphologies in Co-based alloy films, we use a phase field model to simulate the microstructure evolution of the magnetic induced phase separation in polycrystalline Co-Cr, Co-Mo and Co-V binary alloy films. The mechanisms of the microstructure evolution of ”honeycomb-like” structure,”chrysanthemum-like” structure and randomly modulated structure were investigated.
