Analysis of solidification process of the Fe-Mo-Nb ternary alloy system

The solidification processes of different compositions of the Fe-Mo-Nb ternary alloy were studied to determine the liquidus surface projection of the Fe-Mo-Nb ternary system in the present work The liquidus surface of the Fe-Mo-Nb system was predicted by means of the thermodynamic parameters of the Fe-Mo, FeNb, Mo-Nb binary system in the published literature.The solidification path and crystal structure were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM)with energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS) and X-ray powder diffraction (XRD).Finally, the liquidus surface projection of the Fe-Mo-Nb ternary system was constructed according to the present experimental results.
