Benzyl Carbanion Transfer in the Fragmentation of N-(phenylsulfonyl)-benzeneacetamides: A Gas-phase Intramolecular
We found interesting gas-phase benzyl carbanion transfer via intramolecular aromatic nucleophilic substitution (SNAr) reaction within ”RC6H4CH2-/C6H5SO2NCO” complexes in the fragmentation of deprotonated N-(phenylsulfonyl)-benzeneacetamides using tandem mass spectrometry.Upon collisional activation, the formation of the precursor ion/neutral complexes (INC) was supposed as the key step.Subsequently benzyl carbanion was found to conduct the intra-complex SNAr to give rise to the product ion.
