A New Method to Reduce Gain without Affecting Antenna Efficiency for Terminal Applications at DCS/PCS Band
A common challenge of WAN antenna design in handheld device is to reduce peak gain to meet FCC requirement likeEIRP(equivalent isotropic radiated power)without affecting antenna efficiency.In this paper we proposed a new idea ofdesigning an IFA shape counterpoise(CP)located close to the main antenna where the current density is high at cellar 1800band.Simulation and measurement results showed that CP has almost no effects to the antenna efficiency but drops gain over 1dB.
