Effect of Strain Aging on the Tensile Property of an X100 Pipeline Steel with Different Microstructures
Effect of strain aging on the tensile property of an X100 pipeline steel with different microstructures was investigated by optical microscope, scanning electron microscope, and so on.It is found that the strength increases, while elongation decreases as the increase of pre-strain,but both have virtually no change with the increase of either aging temperature or aging time.Granular bainite plus polygonal ferrite(dual-phase)microstructure exhibits lower yield ratio than granular bainite(single-phase)microstructure in the as-rolled state, but both microstructures show similar yield ratios after strain aging. The extent of increase in strength due to strain aging is higher for the plates with either dual-phase microstructure or low finish cooling temperature. The amount of martensite/austenite(M/A)constituents is also found to have a significant effect on the strain aging behavior.A higher amount of M/A constituents leads to a lower yield ratio,in both dual-phase and single-phase microstructures, before and after strain aging.
