Research on Low Temperature Embrittlement of Advanced High Strength Steel
Brittleness of advanced high strength steel(AHSS)induced by low temperature is one of automakers” greatest concerns,considering the wide application of AHSS in structural components of car body.The toughness and brittleness of several kinds of advanced high strength steel at low temperature have been investigated,by using instrumented Charpy impact method.The results show that traditional impact test is useful for evaluating sheet metal”s low temperature toughness ans brittleness.The absorbed energy and fracture surfaces that change with temperature are compared.The effect of prestrain on the change of low temperature embrittlement has also been investigated.The results indicate that forming or prestrain has negative effect on low temperature toughness.
