Study and Comparison on the Determination Methods of Trace Bismuth in Low-alloy Steel
Inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry(ICP-AES),hydride generation atomic fluorescence spectrometry(HG-AFS)and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry(ICP-MS)were studied for determination of trace bismuth in low-alloy steel.Spectral interferences from coexisting elements were investigated in the method of ICP-AES.Interference coefficient correction method was implemented to eliminate the interference from chromium.The detection limit is 19ng/mL and the detection range is from 0.002%to 0.2%in the method of ICP-AES.In the method of HG-AFS,the influences of acids,matrix and coexisting elements were investigated.With the purpose of eliminating the interference from coexisting elements,thiosemicarbazide-ascorbic acid was selected as masking agent.The detection limit is 0.26ng/mL and the detection range is from 0.00005%to 0.01%in the method of HG-AFS.In the method of ICP-MS,the non-spectral interferences arising from matrix effect and interface effect were calibrated efficiently through matrix matching and adding Rh as an internal standard,hence precision of long time determination was improved.The detection limit is 0.0005ng/mL and the detection range is from 0.00001%to 0.01%in the method of ICP-MS.When these three methods combined,the detection range of bismuth in low-alloy steel is from 0.00001%to 0.2%.The results of standard samples were basically consistent with the certified values,with high degree of precision.At last,the comparison on advantages and disadvantages of the three methods was discussed.With accurate and reliable results,methods of HG-AFS and ICP-MS were applied to the determination of trace bismuth in high-alloy steel.
