3D numerical study of the propagation characteristics of a consequence of coronal mass ejections in a structured ambient solar wind

CMEs have been identified as a prime causal link between solar activity and large,nonrecurrent geomagnetic storm.In order to improve geomagnetic storm predictions,a careful study of CME”s propagation characteristics is important.Here,we analyze and quantitatively study the evolution and propagation characteristics of coronal mass ejections (CMEs) launched at several positions into a structured real ambient solar wind by using a three-dimensional (3D) numerical magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) simulation.
