Highly Luminescent ZnS: Mn/ZnS core shell nanoparticles for bio-sensing

Small molecular building blocks are joined to produce nanostructures with defined geometries and specific functions.Semi-conductor nanocrystals,or so-called quantum dots(QDs) possess unique optical and surface properties that make them potential candidates as luminescent nanoprobes for bio-sensing applications”1” like cancer cell imaging and calcium ions detecting.QDs have narrow, symmetrical and tunable emission profiles, high quantum yields and are more robust against photo-bleaching,which makes them suitable for long term imaging.Other advantages include reproducibility, low cost preparation, ease of modification, and simpler fabrication processes In this paper,we report a synthesis method and characterization of ZnS:Mn/ZnS core shell nanoparticles.Their luminescent properties are then studied and possible applications are investigated.
