Gust Response analysis of High Altitude, Long Endurance aircraft
The High Altitude,Long Endurance aircraft (HALE) get more attentions because of military and civilian uses.The aircrafts are always built with slender high-aspect ratio wings to get high aerodynamic performance and low structural weight.So they are sensitive to disturbance,and the rigid-body flight dynamic frequencies tend to overlap in the elastic mode frequencies,leading to complex coupling characteristics.Researchers have made plenty of creative investigations on the subject with frequency and time-domain analysis by coupling nonlinear aerodynamic,structure and flight dynamics,especially from the Helios mishap in 2003.
