　　The paper examines the ninetieth century foundations of housing and urban form and their relevance to Asia today.The authors identify that the Asian shop house and public housing in Hong Kong offer alternative models.Drawing upon the theories of Heidegger and Deleuze and Guattari, the concepts of becoming and dwelling are engaged.
