Case Report Pulmonary thromboembolism associated with Olanzapine treatment
Venous thromboembolism(VTE) is a common pathological process for which there are many well known predisposing factors, including advanced age, use of oral contraceptives, smoking, obesity, a sedimentary lifestyle, surgery, malignancies, protein C and S deficiency, usual prothrombin mutations and so on.It has recently been shown that antipsychotic medication may also be associated with an increased risk factor of thromboembolic events. We present a case of a 55-year-old female suffering from depression mood disorder, with no identified risk factor for thromboembolism, who developed pulmonary embolism after receiving treatment withOlanzapine, Sertraline Hydrochloride and Oxazepam for 28 days.
