Explaining Capgras Delusion in the Two-factor Framework
In this paper, I will begin by explaining the Gapgras delusion in the two-factor framework by distinguishing and answering these two questions.First, where did the delusion come from? Second, why does the patient not reject the false belief? Then I will assess this theoretical framework and give my point of view that the two-factor theory indeed gives us a general structure of explaining the delusion, however, it”s not sufficient to arrive at a complete and satisfactory explanation of delusion by just answering these two questions.The two-factor framework should allow additional factors and more specific discussion in each stage of formation and persistence of the delusional belief.
