The prevalence of β lactamase genes and plasmid-mediated qninolone resistance determinants among carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae from 5 teaching hospitals of central China

Introduction Multidrug resistance in Enterobacteriaceae is a threat to public health and limits the selection of antimicrobials for treatment of infectious diseases”1”.Carbapenems are effective agents for the treatment of clinical infections caused by multi-resistant Enterobacteriaceae. However, the resistance of these organisms to carbapenems has been increasing, which is mainly associated with the carbapenemase production and porin loss combined with the expression of β-lactamases such as extended-spectrum beta-lactamases (ESBLs) or AmpCs”1”.
