A rare etiology for chronic cough--Tracheobrochopathia Osteochondroplastica:case report and literature review
Tracheobrochopathia Osteochondroplastica (TO) is a rare but benign disorder affecting the airway and regarded as rare etiology for chronic cough.TO could be easily underdiagnosed or misdiagnosed. It is characterized by osteocartilaginous nodules developing within the submuscosa of the trachea, sparing the posterior wall.We reported a 37-year-old patient as TO who had suffered from chronic cough of 10 years” duration.Final diagnosis was made by bronchoscopy and pathological inspection. The patient received inhalation therapy combining salmeterol/fluticasone (seretide50/250) for lower respiratory tract and with fluticasone propionate (Flixonase) for upper respiratory tract.
