Purposes of Clinical Legal Education:between Ideal and Reality
I.Reform of Korean legal education and legal clinic Korean legal education is undergoing a transition.The previous system of producing lawyers—selecting capable people by examining legal knowledge and teaching them for two years in the Judicial Research and Training Institute—is disappearing and being replaced by the American law school system.This year,the first law school graduates as well as Judicial Research and Training Institute graduates were produced at the same time:Law schools turned out 1,361 graduates,while the institute turned out 1,030.The number of graduates from the Judicial Research and Training Institute will decrease from now.The judicial examination will be repealed after the last exam in 2017;therefore,after 2020,lawyers will be no longer produced from the institute,but only from law schools.
