The Characteristics and Recent Changes of the Vegetables and Fruits Trade
The characteristics and recent changes of the vegetables and fruits trade were analyzed mainly by the FAO statistics.The trade of vegetables and fruits has largely developed since 1990”s.But as the consumption style and preference of vegetables and fruits differ with regions,there are some limitations for the vegetables and fruits to be globalized.The first is that the proportion of volume of trade of vegetables and fruits to production is still low and a large part of vegetables and fruits are produced mainly for the domestic demands.The second is that there are fairly fixed relations between the partners of the vegetables and fruits trade.The third is the proportion of the trade on neighboring nations is rather high.Therefore the strategies of agribusinesses of vegetables and fruits industry rather differ from that of the other crops such as cereals and coffee.While,the globalization in vegetables and fruits develop gradually from now on,that will be different in some points from the other crops.
