Current Status of Insecticide Resistance and Virulence to Resistant Varieties in Asian Rice Planthoppers
Outbreaks of the brown planthopper (BPH), Nilaparvatalugens (St? l) and the whitebackedplanthopper (WBPH), Sogatellafurcifera (Horváth) have occurred in East Asia and Indochina since 2005.Outbreaks of the small brown planthopper (SBPH), Laodelphaxstriatellus (Fallén) has also occurred in eastern China and Japan since mid-2000s.These outbreaks are closely related to the development of insecticide resistance in the three planthoppers and the change in virulence to resistant rice varieties in BPH.
