Introduction Counsellors in higher education institutions face many challenges raised by students.Students present with a diversity of situations, problems, motives, experiences, and the counsellor has to handle these with expertise drawn from knowledge, training and skills, sensitivity to the individual situation and an ability to respond to the situation appropriately.
