Model Test Investigation on an Lowering System for Subsea Equipment Installation
The lowering system for subsea equipments installation plays an important role in deepwater oil and gas field development.A lowering system in reference to the technology of a crane in ship for lowering subsea equipment vertically for an S-lay barge is presented. The model of lowering system is fabricated in 1∶10 scale and the vessel is simulated by the 6-DOF motion platform.Through the vibration experiment of 6-DOF, the functional reliability and safety performance would be inspected in the model test.In comparison with the numerical results, the measured stress results could verify the feasibility of the numerical calculation methods. At the same time, the dynamic response of cable tension is also studied in the lowering process without heave compensation function in the test. This also could provide the basis for the optimization of design. This article is of importance in guiding the development of other related subsea deployment equipments.
