Coke Desulfurization Using Iron Ore and Sodium Hydroxide
Wet desulfurization of coke was conducted by using iron ore and NaOH under a mild condition. The sulfur reduction was found to be increased with the extension of treating time when iron ore or NaOH was separately used to remove sulfur.A fluctuant sulfur reduction was obtained when iron ore and NaOH were together used. And a mechanism of sulfur oxidation by Fe(OH)3 colloid was introduced and discussed to explain the fluctuation of sulfur reduction. The pseudo-first-kinetic model was applied to explain the removal of organic sulfur from the coke. Finally, the total sulfur reduction of 50% was achieved in the experiment.
