E-Work and E-Research:Findings from a Study on Temporary Virtual Teams and Reflections on Conducting Research Across Geographic and Temporal Boundaries
Given advances in technological tools and platforms and the rise of globalization,it should come as no surprise that E-Society phenomena can be found in the workplace.Indeed, organizations of all sorts, across industries and sectors, practice ”E-work” or what is often called virtual work. The term ”virtual work” encompasses a variety of work processes.Telecommuting, where individuals work primarily from home or the road, constitutes one type of virtual work (Cascio & Shurygailo,2003).Virtual teaming,in which team members are connected by mediated means and are often geographically distributed, constitutes another.
