Protoberberine Dyes in Historical Textiles of East Asia-Determination of Dye Plants and Origin
HPLC analyses of Protoberberine-including dye plants which would be used in historical textiles of East Asia were conducted under ion-pair conditions.Materials were easily distinguishable by amount of characteristic Protoberberine ingredients.It was revealed that relative Palmatine contents to Berberine in Amur cork tree and Goldthread were largely affected by their origin of Japan or China which would lead to effective methods for determination of origin of their materials.Applications based on these observations were made for determination of origin of historical textiles.
