Study on the Conservation Materials for Sandstone Built Structures in Angkor Site
1 Testing method and test samples 1.1 Properties of the test samplesSince sandstone obtained from areas near Siem Reap, where the Angkor Site is located, is sedimentary rock, joint running in a fixed direction can be observed.Columnar test samples (45mm in diameter, 100mm long) were processed in such a way that the direction of the striped pattern characteristic of sandstone would be horizontal or vertical against the length of the column.Since more test samples were prepared as necessity arose, in the end a total of 157 were used for weathering test.The density of the test samples are approximately 2.33～2.34; rate of water absorption is about 4.2％.
