沖繩県、世界遺産·園比屋武御嶽石門の保存修復
Stone Gate of the Sonohyan Shrine is on the list of World Cultural Heritage as a component of ”Gusuku Sites and Related Properties of the Kingdom of Ryukyu”.The stone gate was built in 1519 as an important part of the palace of Ryukyu Kingdom.It was substantially destroyed by airstrike in World War Ⅱ.It was reconstructed in 1956.In this case, however, the damaged original stone parts were not reused except some omamental ones, and they were left just behind the gate.In 1982 to 1985, the gate was reconstructed again, using the original parts which had been left behind the gate.In this work, consolidation and restoration were carried out to the seriously damaged original stone parts.Here, the conservation work for the damaged stone parts is explained, and the present condition of the gate, 25 years after the conservation treatments, is reported.
