Research of the Conservation Treatment and the Environment During Storage of Excavated Objects from Takashima Underseawater Site in Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan
We have so far conducted researches both in Japan and in South Korea on the conservation and environment of excavated wooden objects after conservation treatment.Based on the results, we also examined the storage and environments, offering numerous proposals. This time, we investigated a part of the objects which were excavated from the bottom of the sea, which constitutes a particular environment, for their materials and level of deterioration.Based on the results, we studied the most appropriate treatment method including desalting, which we then implemented.Next we researched the environment during storage and aging of the objects after treatment. As a result, we found out that most of the current environment during storage is appropriate and that they cause no major changes to the objects. However, we also found out that a part of the current condition during storage and environments need to be improved.
