Privacy Protection for Location-Based Service in Mobile Government
Recently, a new application called Mobile Government has been developed in many countries, which uses the pervasive computing (especially the mobile technology) in the mobile public service of the government and provides convenient service to the public.Among the services in Mobile Government, location-based services have been increasingly popular in these few years due to the rapid development of various positioning devices (e.g., GPS, RFID and sensor network). While location-based services promise to bring convenience and safety, they also raise the concern of location privacy. In particular, large personal information about individuals is gathered and can be revealed without users” consent since the locations can be tracked at any time in any place.Mechanisms which allow users to control the dissemination of these data are vital. In this paper, we analyze the attacks on location-based service in Mobile Government. We investigate and discuss how to define and protect location privacy through legislations. We also address the issue of how location information can be ”unlinked” from a person”s identity through technique solutions
