Intermediate Discharge Valve for Scroll Compressor
Scroll compressor has a constant pressure ratio designed under a rated operating condition like ARI.However, for the other conditions there exist over compression or under compression phenomena that will cause power losses.Intermediate discharge valve (IDV) was a means to decrease the power losses under over compression conditions. The IDV system was composed of valve reed, valve retainer and scroll set.The IDV can discharge gas in a designed over compression condition zone controlled by discharge holes positions on scroll set.The IDV discharge holes are bypass beside the main discharge port.In low-pressure ratio zone, the results show that the compressor with IDV increased the EER up to 26 % as compared to the standard compressor without IDV.It can also improve the liquid slugging capacity and reduce the loads during start up at high ambient temperature environment.
