3D Stomach Modeling Methods for Image-Guided Biopsy Marking System for Gastroscopy
In previous research,we proposed an image-guided biopsy marking (IGBM) system for gastroscopy, which guides endoscopists to find the biopsy positions in follow-ups.The 3D stomach model is the key component of the system. In this paper, two modeling methods were proposed and evaluated. One is static modeling method based on CT scanning of the stomach before gastroscopy; the other is dynamic modeling method which utilizes real-time gastroscope video and 3D motion tracking device. The accuracy of the static modeling method was evaluated by clinical experiments and the other method was evaluated by the simulation experiment. For the static modeling method, the average target registration errors (TRE) are 13.4± 1.2 mm for test animal and 11.2 ± 1.0 mm for human volunteer; for the dynamic modeling method, the TRE is 1.8±1.0 mm.
