Preparation and Microwave Absorption Properties of Nanocrystalline α-Fe Microfibres

  Nanocrystalline α-Fe microfibres with diameters of 0.2-6.0μm and an average grain size of 44nm were prepared by the simple organic gel-thermal reduction process.The natural resonance frequency of the nanocrystalline α-Fe microfibers is shifted to a high frequency (8.5GHz) possibly due to a remarkable increase in surface-and shape-anisotropy.For the 0.7mm thickness specimen of 50wt% nanocrystalline α-Fe mi crofibers in paraffin wax,the reflection loss (RL) reaches a minimum value about-24 dB at 17.5GHz.With the thickness of 1.2mm,the absorption band width (RL<-10dB) is about 7 GHz ranging from 6.5 to 13.5GHz,which covers 43% of the G-band (4.2-8.2GHz) and the whole X-band (8.2-12.4GHz).
