清热解毒类中药联合常规疗法治疗普通型手足口病的单病例meta分析

Background:In China, Heat-clearing and detoxifying Chinese medicinescombined with conventional therapy are common control measures for mild hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD). However, high-quality evidence to support thistherapy is limited. Methods: An individual patient data (IPD) meta-analysis based onthe original data from 5 randomized controlled clinical trials (RCT) was conducted toevaluate the efficacy and safety of this combination therapy to treat mild HFMD. Ninehundred and forty-seven patients from 5 RCTs were included. Results: The resultsshowed that compared with conventional therapy, the rate of conversion from mild tosevere HFMD of the combination therapy significantly decreased, the OR value was0.41(95% CI: 0.20-0.85; P-0.02). There is heterogeneity of the time to the feverresolution among the 5 RCTs. The separate analysis results showed that the median times to the fever resolution of the 5 Chinese medicines combined with conventionaltherapy were lower than that of conventional therapy, except one Chinese medicine. The healing rates ofthe skin rash or oral ulcer ofthe 2nd t0 7th day after treatmentwere analyzed. Beginning from the 4th day after treatment, the healing rates of skinrash or oral ulcer of the combination therapy were significantly larger than that of theconventional therapy. Conclusions: Heat-clearing and detoxifying Chinesemedicines combined with conventional therapy is an effective regimen to control mildHFMD by reducing the rate of conversion from mild to severe, shortening the feverclearance time, and improve the healing rate of skin or oral mucosal lesions.
