Since its installation on April 1st,1888 the Rathgen Research Laboratory with the National Museums in Berlin has been challenged by the question of authenticity of art and cultural good.In the setting of an ever-growing market,often mixed with illicit traffic,a conservation science laboratory has become an irreplaceable partner to art historians and archaeologists.
