A study of seasonal optimum tilt angles for solar panels of photovoltaic air conditions

At present, the solar panels of the photovoltaic air conditions are often installed at a yearly optimum tilt angle, even though the air conditions may work only for some specific months.Besides, when calculating the monthly-average solar radiation incident on inclined surfaces,a method with the isotropic assumption for the diffuse radiation is often used, but the isotropic assumption was proved to result larger errors than the anisotropic assumption. In this paper,a method with the anisotropic assumption is developed, and then a web application is developed to calculate the optimum tilt angle. The results reveal that the amount of the solar radiation incident on inclined surfaces could be boosted by 3.1% if the solar panels could be installed at the seasonal optimum tilt angle, instead of yearly optimum tilt angle for Guangzhou and 2.9% for Harbin, and that the amount of the solar radiation could be boosted by 3.1% if the solar panels could be semi-fixed for Shanghai and 1.7% for Chengdu.
