Characterization of a Chitinase from Apocheima cinerarius nucleopolyhedrovirus
Baculoviruses are important biological control agents against insect pests. In this work,a chitinase from Apocheima cinerarius nucleopolyhedrovirus (ApciNPV) was expressed to high levels in Escherichia coli and purified by affinity chromatography. The three-dimensional structure prediction of ApciNPV chitinase indicated the protein has an N-terminal polycystic kidney 1(PKD1) domain for chitin-substrate feeding and α/β TIM barrel catalytic domain characteristic of a family 18 glycohydrolase.
