Modeling rainfall-runoff processes and scaling effects in complex arid environments
Rainfall-runoff processes in arid environments can be affected by many landscape features such as topography, vegetation patches and soil surface sealing. To examine complex interactions among the multiple factors and their impact on the entire system,we developed a modeling approach coupling a two-dimensional surface runoff routing model with a two-layer infiltration model,as well as elaborated numerical treatment,to study the rainfall-runoff processes under real environmental conditions.
