Variability and long term trend of Sea Surface Temperature over China Seas derived from a newly merged dataset
Sea surface temperature (SST)is one of the most fundamental and important variables to measure climate change.Variations in SST provide a source of potential predictability for climate fluctuations on timescales of seasons and longer. However, the seasonal and long-term changes in the marginal seas, such as the Yellow Sea and Bohai Bay known as an inland sea in the China Seas, are not well understood. This is attributed mainly to the uncertainties and sparse sampling at these regions in the international SST products which were widely used in climate studies worldwide, such as ICOADS SST,HadISST1,ERSSTv3.
