Genetic improvement of antiviral capacity in silkworm by transgenic technology
Bombyx mori is a lepidopteran model and an important economic insect for silk.Sericulture is one of theprincipal sources of income for farmers in many developing countries such as China,India,Brazil,Vietnam andThailand. However, sericulture faces biological challenges from pathogenic diseases, which cause losses of almost20% of potential cocoon production each year.B.mori nucleopolyhedrovirus (BmNPV) is the most prevalentthreat to sericulture.
