High performance ZIF-8 molecular sieve membrane on hollow ceramic fiber via crystallizing-rubbing seed deposition
In this report, a continuous well intergrown ZIF-8 membrane on hollow ceramic fiber tube was first synthesized by a novel crystallizing-rubbing seed deposition.The synthesized ZIF-8 membrane was characterized by XRD, SEM and single gas permeation tests.XRD result suggested that as-prepared membrane was pure phase of ZIF-8.SEM observation indicated that the ZIF-8 membrane was compact and defect-free, with a separation layer of about 5 μm.It is inferred that uniformly distributed fine seeds generated by crystallizing-rubbing enhanced heterogeneous nucleation of ZIF-8 crystals, resulting in a high quality ZIF-8 membrane.The obtained membrane shows high H2 molecular sieve separation performance.The permeance of H2reaches to 1.1 × 10-6 mol m-2 s-1 Pa-1, and the ideal separation factors for H2/CO2, H2/N2and H2/CH4 are 5.2, 7.3 and 6.8 at room temperature, respectively.
