Synthesis of lithium titanate nanorods as anode materials for lithium ion batteries with superior electrochemical performance
A hydrothermal synthesis of Li4Ti5O12 nanorods selected TiO2-B as the titanium source and template is introduced.Scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and X-ray diffraction are used to characterize their morphologies and structures.Li4Ti5O12 nanorods with sizes of 100 200 nm in diameter and 1-2 μm in length can be observed. The Li4Ti5O12 nanorods exhibit high discharge capacities of about 101.1mA h g-1 after 1000 cycles at 20 C for the lithium ion battery anode. It is suggested that Li4Ti5O12 nanorods have a great potential for lithium ion battery that are available as large-scale storage devices for applications such as automotive and stationary energy storage.
