There has been growing interest in tools that utilize hyperthermal ion/solidinteractions for the characterization of molecular solids by mass spectrometry.Thesetechniques are generally distinguished by electrospray ionization (ESI) where thesample is interrogated in an ambient environment,and interest in them is furtherdriven by low cost,diminutive size,and ease-of-use.
