Ultrasmall Inorganic Nanoparticles for Bioimaging
When the size of inorganic particles is reduced to nano scale or sub-nanometer scale, they exhibit novel properties in comparison with their bulk analogues. One example is magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (MIONs),which show superparamagnetism when their size is below the critical size (e.g.20 nm for Fe3O4 particles) where they turn from ferromagnetic into superparamagnetic.
