Minocycline Protects Whole-Brain Irradiation-Induced Neurons Apoptosis and Cognitive Impairment in Rats
As an important treatment modality for brain tumor patients, cranial radiotherapy causes a debilitating cognition decline thus decreasing the quality of patients” life. Therefore, intense investigation is being carried out to look for effective ways to overcome this side effect. The objective of this study was to investigate whether minocycline,an antibiotic that has demonstrated neuroprotective properties in a variety of experimental models of neurological diseases, has protective effects on irradiation-induced damage in hippocampus and cognitive impairment.
