Projectile fragmentation of 28Si on C and CH2 targets

The total charge-changing cross sections and the partial cross sections of projectile fragment productions of the fragmentation of 28Si on C target at 678 A MeV and CH2 target at 624 A MeV are measured using CR-39 plastic nuclear track detector.The total charge-changing cross sections of 28Si on C target at 678 A MeV and CH2 target at 624 A MeV are 905±248 and 818±158mb,respectively,which agree well with other experimental results at different energies ”1-4” and the predictions of Bradt-Peters semi-empirical formula σ=πr0 2(AP1/3+AT1/3-b)2”5” using parameter r0=1.31fm and b=0.96.Fig.1 shows the partial cross sections for fragmentation of 28Si on C target at 678 A MeV and CH2 target at 624 A MeV,which is consistent with other results at close energy”1-4”.
