Carbon Ions-induced Murine Pulmonary Toxicity Model: Dose-response and mTOR inhibition Study
Purposes:Despite the dose improvements afforded by the Bragg peak effect in particle therapy, there are severe limitations in radiobiological precision of relative biological effectiveness (RBE) in most situations. This is because RBE varies with fractionation and LET in different tissue types. Two attempts have been made in the present study, firstly to characterize biological effects of carbon ions (12C) in whole thoracic irradiation (IR);and with the established in vivo dose-response profiling,we next sought to study the interaction of mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) inhibition with carbon ions combination regimen.
