Ectopic expression of the OsMADS58 gene regulates floral organ identity in Arabidopsis

  The ABCDE model was more comprehensive to interpret the mechanism of floral organ development.AGMAOUS was a class C gene in Arabidopsis encoding a transcription factor.Ectopic of AGMAOUS induced the transformation of sepals to carpels and petals to stamens.OsMADS58 was a homologue of AGMAOUS in rice without systemic researches.OsMADS58 was ectopic expressed in Arabidopsis driven by the UBIQUITIN promoter in our study.Carpel-like sepals,incomplete petals and stamens instead of petals were found in different transgenic plants according to different OsMADS58 mRNA expression levels.The phenotypes of transgenic plants were similar to the AGAMOUS overexpression plants.These results suggested that OsMADS58 may play an important role in flower development like AGAMOUS.
