Power Consumption and Hotspot Analysis for FPGAs
In order to estimate FPGA power consumption and regulate operating temperature,a power and thermal model for architecture studies is required. This paper leverages the FPGA architecture to present a methodology for pre-silicon power estimation and hotspot analysis of FPGA design. An architectural FPGA power and thermal (FPT) model is developed for FPGA architectural simulations.A design example of 16*16 NoC router circuit on FPGA reveals that the proposed method is capable of providing an error of less than 10% estimation, and monitors the temperatures at various locations on the FPGA die.
