1 Introduction Laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy,an atomic emission spectroscopy technique allowing for rapid,multi-elemental analysis of a sample,has been proposed as an important tool for in site monitoring of trace pollutants in environment (solids,liquids,or gases) with very little or no sample preparation.
