The aflatoxin oxidase, mechanism and application studies

Aflatoxin oxidase (AFO),isolated from edible Chinese fungus with a previous name of aflatoxin detoxifizme,is investigated due to its detoxification to aflatoxin B1 (AFB1).Protein Blast research indicate AFO is a newly finding oxidase. The oxidation-reduction catalyze action is confirmed by electrochemical research.Isothermal titration calorimetry determination shows AFO is a copper enzyme with one by one ratio of copper ion binding.AFO acted on its substrate with oxygen dependence.AFO shows a high affinity to AFB1 and sterigmatocystin (a metabolic precursor of AFB1).The affinity is high enough for AFO to stop the activation of AFB1 by animal liver.AFO based biosensors have shown high sensitive, selective and a wide linear rang to AFB1 and sterigmatocystin with immediate electric responses. To be used as additives of feeds, the detoxification of AFO on aflatoxin B1 has been reported.AFO have performed the role of lessening the live damages due to aflatoxin activation inhibition and detoxification, protecting animal’s liver and health against the harmful aflatoxin contamination.
