Preparation and Characterization of Electrolytic Copper Nanopowder
For the preparation of copper nanoparticles several methods i.e.,thermal reduction,mechanical attrition,chemical reduction metal vapour synthesis,radiation methods,laser ablation and microemulsion techniques were developed in past.Electrolytic deposition is one of the most suitable,simplest and low cost method which is used for wide range of materials.Therefore in the present investigations,copper powder particles were prepared using copper sulphate bath under suitable bath conditions and additives like boric acid and glycerine.It could be possible to obtain copper particles size ranging between 140nm to 1.6μm by using high cathode current density of 1100A/m2.The shape of these particles was found to be a mixture of spheroid and irregular.By passing the polarity-reversing current in the bath,it could be possible to modify the shape of these particles to cubical.
